Meteor Streaks Across Puerto Rican Sky

A meteor streaked across the Puerto Rican sky on November 16, just after the Taurid meteor shower reached its peak.

Footage captured by Frankie Lucena shows the meteor. The source told Storyful that the fireball was a Taurid meteor captured facing south from Cabo Rojo at 7:06 am.

“This fireball appeared about 19 mins after the launch of Artemis 1,” Lucena wrote in the video’s caption.

The Taurid meteor shower occurs between the last week of October and the first two weeks of November, when the Earth “passes through a broad stream of debris left by Comet Encke,” according to NASA. Credit: Frankie Lucena via Storyful
