Mexican mayor ties the knot with white dress-wearing crocodile

Will they live snappy ever after?

A Mexican mayor has tied the knot - with a crocodile.

Joel Vasquez Rojas got hitched to the reptile during a symbolic ceremony in San Pedro Huamelula on Tuesday.

He said his vows as part of an annual tradition to bring good luck to the Oaxaca coastal village’s fishermen.

Footage shows his “bride”, who was wearing a white dress and had her jaws sealed firmly shut, being brought down the aisle.

The happy couple were then blessed by a priest before taking part in their first dance.

Hundreds of locals watched the event, which has been taking place in San Pedro Huamelula for hundreds of years.

Maria Isabel, as the croc was named during the nuptials, is the second reptile Rojas has wed in recent years.

She is regarded in the village as a princess of the waters with mysterious powers over other aquatic creatures, according to Terra.

She was later returned to her natural habitat.
