Mexican Volcano Erupts 14 Times in One Night

One of Mexico’s most active volcanoes, Popocatépetl, erupted 14 times overnight on October 2, 2019.

Mexico’s disaster agency detected explosions from around 1am on October 2 until 7:15 am on October 2.

The volcano sent a plume of smoke into the air at 7:15 am.

“CENAPRED emphasizes that people SHOULD NOT go near the volcano, especially near the crater, due to the hazard caused by ballistic fragments and in case of heavy rains leave the bottoms of ravines because of the danger of landslides and debris flows,”
Mexico’s disaster agency said.
