Mexico City Security Minister Doused in Glitter at Protest Over Police Rape Allegations

Mexico City’s security minister Jesús Orta Martínez was doused with glitter on August 12 as protesters demanded justice in two cases where police officers were accused of rape.

About 300 people took part in the protest at Mexico City’s public security ministry, reports said. Slogans were spray-painted on the building’s facade and a pig’s head was raised on a pole.

The protests followed an accusation that four police officers raped a 17-year-old girl and a separate accusation that a law enforcement agent raped a girl under 16 years of age. Both cases were reported in Mexico City. Credit: Revista Quehacer Político via Storyful
