Miami Roads Flooded as Potential Tropical Cyclone Dumps Inches of Rain

Heavy rain caused flash flooding in Miami overnight from Friday, June 3, into Saturday, June 4, as Potential Tropical Cyclone One, forecast to become a tropical storm, hit South Florida.

The National Weather Service (NWS) on Friday morning warned on Friday morning of the potential for “major flooding” with the possibility of coastal storm surge through Sunday.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Miami Fire Rescue said it was responding to “multiple calls” of stranded vehicles, and reminded motorists not to drive through flooded roadways.

By 9:30 am Saturday morning, up to 11 inches of rain had fallen on parts of southeast Florida, the NWS said. Credit: Goncalo Matos Gil via Storyful
