Michael C Hall to return to Dexter role in new sequel series
Dexter is expanding with a brand-new sequel series, with Michael C Hall returning as the infamous serial killer.
Announced at San Diego Comic-Con, Dexter: Resurrection will be set in the present day and serve as a follow-up to Dexter: New Blood from a few years ago (which itself was a follow-up to the original show).
The actor is quoted by Deadline as stating: "It's pretty heady. I'm having flashbacks of the first time I came to Comic-Con. We were in this hall. That was… 75 years ago? It's amazing to still be alive.

"I cannot wait to watch this show. To a certain degree, I have a sense of what is coming. I've spent so much time with this character and to go back to have those sort of imaginative blanks filled in this technicolor show… It's amazing."
Resurrection, which is set to arrive in the summer next year, joins the already-announced prequel series Original Sin, which follows a young Dexter, played by Shadow and Bone actor Patrick Gibson, as his bloodthirsty urges start to surface.
Cast members for Original Sin include Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey, Mr Robot's Christian Slater, singer Christina Milian, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Nina Diaz, president of content and chief creative officer at Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios & Paramount Media Networks said previously that: "Sarah Michelle Gellar is a pop culture icon who perfectly rounds out our best-in-class cast featuring Christian Slater and Patrick Dempsey among others.
"We're thrilled to have her return to the Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios family and join the origin story of the Dexter franchise."
In the UK, Dexter can be streamed on Netflix, while New Blood can be streamed on Sky/NOW. Both shows can also be streamed on Paramount+.
