Lucy and her siblings Harriet, Olivia and Felix often spent time with Jackson and his children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, and states the claims against the King of Pop couldn’t be further from the kind and generous family man she and her own family knew.

She told Gloucester Live: “One hundred percent I never saw anything to suggest anything like that.

“I never had the slightest inkling, saw or heard anything that made me feel uncomfortable.

”I do not believe he did it and there are other factors to consider such as monetary gain from the people who accused him.”

Lucy grew up with her family in Cheltenham. Her father, who found fame as a child after playing the starring role in 1968 musical Oliver!, retired from show business to pursue a career as an osteopath.

The Lester and Jackson children held a close bond, with Mark being godfather to the Jackson children and the Thriller singer returning the favour fo the Lester children. The pair, both former child stars, become fast friends after meeting in the 1970s. Lucy said: “Dad met Michael when he was 18, long before I was even born so for me it’s always been pretty normal.

“It’s only now looking back that it sounds pretty surreal, as if you are describing someone else’s life not your own. But it was just normal at the time.”

The two families were so close they spent Christmas together in 2005, after the Thriller singer rented the Sultan’s Palace in Bahrain, paying for the Lesters to stay in the nearby Ritz Hotel. The singer used the opportunity to show his generosity to his godchildren. Lucy explained: “When we went back at the end of the holiday there was so much stuff that me and my dad had to go to the lobby to buy duffel bags to put it all in,” she said.

“It was crazy. There was so much we could not take it all back and had to to have half the presents shipped back to Cheltenham.

“I remember my dad looking at a big inflatable bouncy castle and saying ‘that’ll never fit into our back garden in Cheltenham’.”
