Michael Mosley's wife says eat these two breakfast foods to aid weight loss
The widow of the renowned TV health pundit Dr Michael Mosley, Dr Clare Bailey, has shared a couple of breakfast foods she says can help stop people reaching for a mid-morning snack. Dr Bailey, who was married to the fitness guru from 1987 until his untimely passing earlier this year, is also a health expert in her own right.
Dr Bailey has recently returned to social media to share health and food content "slowly but surely" after her husband's tragic passing. She told her many fans: "Not only is it important to me to continue to carry forward Michael's legacy, but even in his absence, it's a huge part of my life."
Dr Mosley's eating advice has focused in many cases on fasting, with his 5:2 and Fast 800 plans credited by many for losing weight and transforming their health. Championing the Fast 800 method, Dr Bailey told her 213,000 Instagram followers about the benefits of protein.
She said: "Protein is a health all-rounder, essential for rest, repair, maintaining muscle mass, and reducing your risk of chronic illnesses like osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. Studies have also shown that it does wonders for weight loss, as it increases satiety, and can help to prevent weight regain. I recommend eating at least 60g of protein every day to ensure you're optimally nourished."
Dr Bailey shared her top tips for boosting protein intake and added: "If you're not getting enough protein, you'll be feeling hungry all the time", which could lead to increased snacking. She emphasised the importance of starting the day with a protein-rich breakfast.
Two foods she recommended were eggs and smoked salmon, as they help maintain fullness during the morning hours. She also added that if you are to eat yogurt, at any point throughout the day, you should opt for Greek yogurt as this has more protein than other versions.
Dr Clare went on to say that you should be having protein in every meal and that a great way to get extra protein is to use the Fast 800 protein shakes. She added: "Obviously real food is best, but that's an easy way of topping up your protein".
