Michael Sheen and David Tennant to reunite for BBC lockdown comedy

Michael Sheen and David Tennant have been announced as the stars of new lockdown BBC comedy, Staged.

The Good Omens actors are set to reunite for the new project 'Staged' which is arriving to BBC One in June.

The series, comprised of six 15 minute long episodes, will focus on the cast of a play who are furloughed when their upcoming West End production is put on hold.

Described as the cream of British acting talent, the actors must continue practicing their rehearsals in lockdown.

Also in the cast is Lucy Eaton as well as Georgia Tennant and Anna Lundberg, who are Tennant and Sheen’s partners, respectively.

Nina Sosanya, who also appeared in Good Omens, is among the guest stars with the rest of the line-up yet to be confirmed.

The BBC have released a teaser trailer of what fans expect which sees the actors recording from their respective homes.

The broadcaster has stated the production team will follow government social distancing guidelines and the show will include self-shooting and video conference technology.

Charlotte Moore, Director BBC Content said: “It’s vital that the BBC provides moments of light relief and this mischievous idea shows what great sports Michael and David are in sending themselves up.”

Staged is produced for BBC One by Infinity Hill and GCB Films and based on an original idea by theatre director Simon Evans and Infinity Hill producer-partner Phin Glynn.
