Staged season two spoilers follow.
Michael Sheen has shown us that he doesn't reserve his sense of humour just for his acting roles, as he responded to a critic of his sitcom Staged on Twitter in typically acerbic fashion.
After the latest episode of the comedy series aired on BBC One last night (January 11), one unimpressed viewer commented on Twitter: "Is it just me or is anyone else really nauseated by David Tennant and Michael Sheen?"
Sheen then proved that he is happy to laugh at himself by replying: "I'm with you, luv. The Welsh one's the worst. #Staged."
His fans were quick to show their appreciation for his joke, with the official Amazon Prime Video Twitter account also commenting: "They misspelt infatuated."
Staged, which is now in its second series, stars Sheen and his Good Omens co-star David Tennant as versions of themselves, as they try to navigate family life and acting work during coronavirus lockdowns.
The first series, which saw the pair trying to rehearse a play over Zoom, was a hit with viewers and the second series features the actors tackling the world of 'virtual Hollywood' as they continue to be confined to their homes during the pandemic.
The second series is based on the premise that producers are trying to make a US version of Staged due to its success, but that Tennant and Sheen are being replaced by different actors as producers don't think that they are well-known enough.
Meanwhile, Parks and Recreation star Ben Schwartz has joined the cast as the assistant to Sheen and Tennant's agent Mary, played by Hollywood icon Whoopi Goldberg.
Several big-name stars have also got in on the act, with The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons making a surprise cameo as an auditionee for the role of 'Michael' during a video chat with Tennant.
Staged airs on BBC One and is also available on BBC iPlayer.
