Michaela Strachan has become the latest person to joke about Holly Willoughby's statement to This Morning viewers.

Willoughby spoke out for the first time following the resignation of Phillip Schofield from the ITV daytime show by asking viewers "Firstly, are you okay?"

Strachan co-hosted Springwatch live with Chris Packham later the same day and the wildlife show featured a clip of a fox stealing a blackbird chick from a nest.

Strachan said: "Everyone was on the edge of their seats watching that, how is everyone feeling?

"There is a lot to process isn't there? Emotions are all over the place."

The 57-year-old BBC presenter is not the first person to parody Willoughby's statement.

Amanda Holden shared a video on social media of herself wearing a white dress - just as Willoughby chose for her This Morning return - and asking "Hello, it is Tuesday. Are you OK?”

Holden previously spoke very publicly about a feud she had with Schofield in 2019 when she was dropped as a guest host on This Morning.

Holly Willoughby said she felt “shaken, troubled, let down and worried” as she returned to This Morning after the Phillip Schofield affair furore.

Holden has been tipped to replace Willoughby when she went to Australia to present I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! as she had previously covered Willoughby’s maternity leave. But the role went to Rochelle Humes after it was reported Schofield told ITV executives he didn’t want to work with Holden.

And MP John Nicholson also ridiculed the statement as he questioned ITV's Group Director of Strategy, Policy and Regulation Magnus Brooke during a select committee hearing for the government department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Nicholson asked the ITV boss: "I suppose I should ask first of all, 'Are you okay?' That seems to be the question du jour at This Morning."

Willoughby, 42, returned to This Morning on Monday 5 June after a two week absence, during which her co-host announced he was stepping down before he confessed to having a secret affair and quit TV completely.

She opened her first show saying: “Hi there. Good morning. Right, deep breath.

“Firstly, are you okay? It feels very strange indeed sitting here without Phil.

"You, me and all of us at This Morning gave love and support to someone who was not telling the truth.
