Michigan Zoo Marks First Birthday of Rare Black Rhino Calf Born on Christmas Eve

Staff at Michigan’s Potter Park Zoo celebrated the first birthday of critically endangered black rhino calf Jaali who was born on Christmas Eve in 2019.

Jaali, born to mother Doppsee and father Phineus, made international headlines as one of the few black rhino calves born at AZA-accredited zoos in the past 12 months, the zoo said.
