Yahoo News Mickey Mouse horror movie confirms UK release date
Mickey Mouse horror The Mouse Trap has finally landed a UK release date.
The beloved Disney rodent mouse is the latest childhood icon to get the slasher treatment following AA Milne's bear in Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey. The Mouse Trap's digital and DVD release this side of the pond is set for September 30, about two months after the US VOD release on August 6.
Directed by Jamie Bailey and written by Simon Phillips, the film isn't affiliated with Disney in any way but it's guaranteed to not have you look at the softly spoken mouse in the same way again.

A textbook slasher, the film sees arcade employee Alex working a late shift on her 21st birthday. When her friends decide to surprise her to celebrate, a masked killer dressed as Mickey Mouse has a different kind of birthday treat in store for the gang.
The film uses the classic version of Mickey Mouse from the 1928 sound-synched film Steamboat Willie, which entered the public domain on January 1 this year. This means that specific version of the character can now be used in other media without the risk of copyright infringement, though Disney clarified this does not apply to more recent Mickey Mouse depictions.

"More modern versions of Mickey will remain unaffected by the expiration of the Steamboat Willie copyright, and Mickey will continue to play a leading role as a global ambassador for the Walt Disney Company in our storytelling, theme park attractions, and merchandise," a Disney spokesperson told Deadline earlier this year.
"We will, of course, continue to protect our rights in the more modern versions of Mickey Mouse and other works that remain subject to copyright, and we will work to safeguard against consumer confusion caused by unauthorized uses of Mickey and our other iconic characters," the company added.
The Mouse Trap is available on VOD in the US now. The movie released in VOD and DVD in UK and Ireland on September 30.
