Micklefield fatal crash victim named and pictured for first time

A 75-year-old man who died following a collision in Micklefield has been named and pictured by police.

Robert Mitchell was behind the wheel of his red Toyota Land Cruiser when it collided with a white Renault cement truck on the A63 Selby Road. His heartbroken family have now released a photograph of him, West Yorkshire Police have said.

The fatal collision happened shortly after 12pm on Wednesday, January 22. The truck driver, a 41-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
