Microsoft 365 services problems update as 'signs of recovery' seen

Millions of people have been impacted by a huge Microsoft 365 outage impacting 'multiple' applications. People have taken to social media complaining they're unable to get on applications such as Outlook and Teams.

On X Microsoft 365 Status confirmed: "We're investigating an issue where users may be unable to access multiple Microsoft 365 services. Please look for MO888473 in the admin center for more details and further updates."

On X Ameya said: "Anyone else having issues with outlook and Microsoft 365 ?" One user said: "Microsoft 365 and Teams are down, so it’s a lazy morning for me." Joshua said: "Hey @ATT @ATTHelp there appears to be a global outage between Microsoft 365 (Outlook for example) and AT&T Fiber. Are you aware?"

It was described as a 'global outage' and Down Detector showed a massive spike in outages in the last hour or so.

Microsoft 365 is a product family of software, collaboration and cloud-based services owned by Microsoft. It encompasses online services such as Outlook.com, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook on Microsoft Windows. It is not clear at this point exactly which services are impacted.

Later Microsoft 365 said it had found the cause of the problem and said: "We've confirmed that a change within a third-party ISP's managed-environment resulted in impact. The ISP has reverted the change and we're now seeing signs of recovery. Please look for MO888473 in the admin center or visit https://status.cloud.microsoft for the latest details."
