Middlesbrough Council set to appoint former Royal Navy Lieutenant as new permanent chief executive
A Teesside council is set to appoint a former Royal Navy Lieutenant as its new permanent chief executive.
Middlesbrough Council’s chief officer appointments committee has recommended Erik Scollay for the role following an extensive recruitment process. The appointment is now subject to the approval of Full Council on Wednesday, November 27.
Mr Scollay, 57, is currently director of adult social services at the council, a role he has held for the past eight years. He has worked at the authority for 17 years and was a Lieutenant in the Royal Navy before embarking on a 30-year career in social care.

He showed he understood our issues, challenges and opportunities and expressed a clear desire to work with staff and councillors at all levels to make sure Middlesbrough continues to improve.”
