A Middlesbrough McDonald's restaurant has re-opened after a month-long revamp.

Middlesbrough Leisure Park McDonald’s, which is owned and operated by local franchisee Dean Fitzmaurice, is back up and running after the temporary closure. The £750,000 transformation - dubbed a 'convenience of the future' redesign - updated the drive-thru and constructed a a new restaurant layout.

And there's also been separate areas created for diners and delivery drivers, and a boost for staff with a new crew room for their rest breaks.

Mr Fitzmaurice, who operates two McDonald’s restaurants in Middlesbrough, said: "I'm proud to reinvest in our Middlesbrough Leisure Park restaurant - especially as McDonald's celebrates its 50th anniversary in the UK this year. The dining area is more contemporary, and we now have separate facilities for our dine-in customers and our couriers leading to a better experience for everyone.

It's exciting to see the fresh new look and feel of our Middlesbrough restaurant and I'm confident the changes will not only benefit our customers but also our staff as they will help make their jobs a little easier."

With dedicated areas for different ways to order, along with the removal of the front counter, the revamp will offer a more efficient way to order and will leave customers with more space to enjoy their meal.

The day before the restaurant officially opened, it hosted a friends and family event, which was attended by members of Middlesbrough Council.
