A Teesside mum died of a drugs overdose, an inquest has ruled.

Annmarie Fowler was found unresponsive at her Middlesbrough home on March 21. Emergency services were called to the Athol Street property but the 46-year-old had tragically passed away.

An inquest was held at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Tuesday to determine the circumstances behind the much-loved mum’s death. Coroner Karin Welsh outlined that Ms Fowler, who was born in Middlesbrough, was found “unresponsive” by a “gentleman in the accommodation”.

A post mortem report, conducted by Dr Sowmya Venkatesan, found the presence of a “number of substances” in Ms Fowler’s body at the time of her death. She ruled that Ms Fowler’s cause of death as “cocaine toxicity”.

The inquest heard that Ms Fowler’s sudden death was investigated by Cleveland Police but found there was “nothing to suggest any third party involvement”. The assistant coroner for Teesside and Hartlepool added: “Sadly the drugs this lady has used have proved too much.”

Coroner Welsh concluded that Ms Fowler’s death was drug related.
