Yahoo News Midge Ure confirms that there will NEVER be another version of Band Aid's 'Do They Know It's Christmas?'
Midge Ure has insisted that there will never be another version of Band Aid’s iconic ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ charity single “out of respect” for late members of the original ’80s line-up.
The star co-wrote the famous song and has revealed that there were plans to create a new version of the song with the original members, but the idea was scrapped following the deaths of founding members George Michael and Rick Parfitt.

Speaking to The Sun, Midge explained: “There’s something really wrong, unsettling, when your contemporaries start popping off around you. George was younger than I am and Rick Parfitt was on the Band Aid record as well.
“Weirdly, someone said a year or so ago, ‘Maybe you should try to get all the original artists back together and do a new recording of the record.’ And within a few months a couple of the key people had gone.”
The song, which raises money for famine relief in Ethiopia, was originally released in 1984, before it was re-recorded five years later with stars such as Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan joining the vocals.

In 2004, a version including stars such as Robbie Williams, Coldplay, and Busted was released to mark 20 years since the song first aired, with the track immediately topping the charts.
However, the song’s impact appears to have lessened, with the most recent re-recording in 2014 being the only time that the song wasn’t Christmas number one – even though singers such as One Direction and Ed Sheeran were involved.
Discussing the reason why he felt Band Aid 30 didn’t reach the success of earlier versions, Midge shared: “I’m not sure if it would resonate so powerfully with young people as it did back in the Eighties.
