Buses were forced to divert from a Midlothian neighbourhood after a 'rock' was allegedly hurled through the window of a double-decker.

Lothian issued a service change after the number 3 bus was targeted on D'Arcy Road, Mayfield on Saturday morning, September 14, with a huge hole pictured in one of the top deck windows.

One local who captured the image claims the damage was caused by a large stone at around 6.40am on Saturday as the driver pulled away from a stop on the road, with the service 48 also diverted.

A notice on the Lothian website at the time read: "Due to antisocial behaviour buses are not serving D'Arcy Road and Oak Place and are instead diverted via Westhouses Road westbound and Bogwood Road citybound."

As well as a hole in the window, the whole glass panel was left shattered following the incident.
