Midlothian Council confirms alpine coaster to open throughout October school holidays

The alpine coaster at Midlothian's Snowsports Centre is set to open every day throughout the October school holidays.

Having previously only been available to book on weekends, Midlothian Council has announced extra slots will be released to accommodate the holiday period from October 14-21.

The coaster is the first of its type in Scotland and transports thrill-seekers down a 980-metre circuit at speeds of up to 28mph with several twists and turns.

The ride, including the ascent, lasts just over three minutes and includes a vertical drop of 170 metres. Confirming the news online, the council also confirmed weekend bookings are live up to November 30.

The said: "Great news – the Alpine Coaster at Midlothian Snowsports Centre, Hillend will be open throughout the October school break!

"We’ve just launched bookings for Monday 14 October right through to Monday 21 October inclusive. And you can also book weekends to Saturday 30 November.

"Perfect for families, the Alpine Coaster is the first in Scotland and reaches up to 28mph." Tickets for the alpine coaster are priced at £7 for one ride or £19 for three (this option must be used by the same individual).
