Midsomer Murders fans fume at 'worst episode' as season finale airs on ITV
Midsomer Murders' season finale aired tonight, leaving fans distinctly underwhelmed. The beloved detective series concluded its 23rd season with the fourth episode on ITV.
The latest instalment, Dress to Kill, followed Barnaby and Winter as they delved into a murder mystery amidst preparations for a charity drag event aimed at supporting a terminally ill teenager. However, the episode's intrigue was overshadowed by the simultaneous domino competition in Elverton-cum-Latterly, which sparked conflict, reported Birmingham Live.
Disappointed viewers took to social media platforms to voice their grievances, with one expressing dissatisfaction on X, formerly known as Twitter: "It's got nothing to do with who's wearing what. It's got to do with awful GCSE drama acting."

Another viewer lamented the episode's quality, stating: "Worst Woke, Box Ticking episode I've ever watched. Acting was truly horrendous #midsomermurders." A third chimed in with a blunt critique: "#MidsomerMurders has it always been this s****? 2 hours wasted."
Echoing the sentiment, another fan regretted the time spent watching: "Well, that's two hours of my life I won't be getting back," while a different viewer resolved not to rewatch the episode: "Well this an episode I won't be watching again,".
Further criticism came from a viewer who declared: "The worst episode I've seen and I've seen many more than once." Others pinpointed the acting rather than the drag aspect as the issue: "Its not the drag queens making this unwatchable its the plot and s*** acting."
Complaints continued regarding the performances and narrative: "Bad acting and poor story ...sort it out @itv. Winter is wooden and Fleur is a cliche," and another viewer summarised the disappointment: "This episode is so bad the writing, the acting everything,".
However, some viewers had a more positive reaction, commenting: "Well I really enjoyed that!".
