Midsomer Murders fans slam 'worst episode ever' as they demand 'sort it out'
The season finale of Midsomer Murders aired tonight and left audiences feeling let down. The much-loved detective show tied up its 23rd season with the fourth episode on ITV.
Fans witnessed Barnaby and Winter tackle a perplexing murder case in 'Dress to Kill,' set against the backdrop of a fundraising drag event organised for a teenager with a terminal illness. According to Birmingham Live, the plot also followed an intensively competitive dominoes tournament happening in Elverton-cum-Latterly.
Viewers were quick to pour out their frustrations on social media, with one person taking to X, previously known as Twitter, to complain and said: "It's got nothing to do with who's wearing what. It's got to do with awful GCSE drama acting."

Another described their disappointment explicitly: "Worst Woke, Box Ticking episode I've ever watched. Acting was truly horrendous #midsomermurders." A third did not mince their words either: "#MidsomerMurders has it always been this s****? 2 hours wasted."
In a similar vein, a fan rued the time spent viewing the episode: "Well, that's two hours of my life I won't be getting back," while another declared they had no intention of giving the episode a second watch: "Well this an episode I won't be watching again,".
A viewer expressed their dissatisfaction, stating: "The worst episode I've seen and I've seen many more than once." While some focused on the performances rather than the drag element, noting: "Its not the drag queens making this unwatchable its the plot and s*** acting."
Further grievances were aired about the quality of the show, with remarks such as: "Bad acting and poor story ...sort it out @itv. Winter is wooden and Fleur is a cliche," and another viewer's blunt critique: "This episode is so bad the writing, the acting everything,".
Nonetheless, there were those who found enjoyment in the episode, with one person sharing: "Well I really enjoyed that! ".
