While appearing on Dax Shepard’s podcast, “Armchair Expert,” Mila Kunis blamed celebrity blogger Perez Hilton for creating “trolling” and publishing “ugly news.”

Kunis, who auditioned for That ’70s Show when she was just 14 years old, told Shepard about her success early in life and that she was “happy,” until Perez Hilton launched PerezHilton.com, formerly PageSixSixSix.com.

The Bad Moms star said, “I was happy. Everything was great… until, I would say, the rise of Perez Hilton… He was the first person that created ugly news… that, like, literally just spread filth.”

Kunis, who has called out tabloids for printing divorce and pregnancies rumors in the past, said about Perez Hilton’s site, “It was just mean, and so it allowed people to be mean.” She went on to say that “trolling didn’t exist” before Perez.

The actress acknowledged that tabloids were published before Perez, but the publications were weekly, whereas this is now daily blogging, and is usually centered around sensationalized rumors and negativity. “Nowadays, you read magazines, and none of it’s… even just fake, it’s just not plausible news,” Kunis said.

Kunis and her husband, fellow actor Ashton Kutcher, are often fodder for gossip publications. She told Cosmopolitan, “I’m pregnant about once a year, and my husband and I are getting a divorce once a year.” She told Cosmo that the gossip magazines that line every grocery store checkout line cause her family members concern.

“The only thing that’s upsetting is my parents, and my grandparents sometimes get confused… At one point when I was pregnant, [the tabloids] said that I had an emergency and was rushed to the hospital, and my face was on the cover. The amount of stress that caused my family, nobody will understand,” she said.
