Yahoo News Miley Cyrus sends fans wild with cover of ‘Zombie’ by The Cranberries
Miley Cyrus has been doing the rounds as she shares a number of classic rock covers, with fans now going wild for her rendition of “Zombie” by The Cranberries.
The singer, whose single “Midnight Sky” is poised to jump to the top position on the UK charts this week, performed at the famous Los Angeles venue Whisky a Go Go, as part of the #SOSFest (Save Our Stages Festival).
The event, which took place without a live audience, was organised by the National Independent Venue Association in the US, to support independent music venues at risk of permanent closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Cyrus sang two covers: The Cranberries’ hit 1993 single “Zombie”, and “Boys Don’t Cry” by The Cure, and also gave a rendition of her own track “Midnight Sky”.
Towards the end of her set, the 27-year-old noted that the venue had played host to a number of rock legends, including Jimi Hendrix, Guns N’ Roses, and The Doors.
“Let’s do what we can to keep this historic landmark alive,” she said.
Cyrus recently covered “Sweet Jane” by the Velvet Underground for MTV’s Backyard Sessions, and was joined by her sister, singer Noah Cyrus, for a performance of the latter’s “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus”.
She covered “Heart of Glass” by Blondie at the iHeart Music Festival earlier this month.
Her forthcoming seventh studio album, She is Miley Cyrus, is scheduled for release in November this year. Dua Lipa and Billy Idol are reportedly among the guest features to be included.
