Military Assists in Battling Rapidly Growing Wildfire in Southern Spain

Spain’s military assisted in battling a rapidly growing wildfire in the municipality of Pujerra in Andalusia on June 8 and 9.

The Military Emergency Unit said late on Wednesday that 233 personnel were deployed to tackle the blaze.

Up to 100 people were evacuated from Pujerra and Benhavis, according to local news reports.

The Forest Fire Extinction Service of Andalucia (INFOCA) reported three firefighters were hurt while attempting to contain the blaze, with one receiving burns covering 25 percent of his body.
