Millie Bobby Brown was a no-show at this year’s MTV Movie Awards after a nasty accident left her with a broken kneecap.

But despite her painful injury, the Stranger Things actress, 14, still managed to deliver a rousing acceptance speech about bullying via video link-up during Monday night’s ceremony.

The British rising star addressed the cyber bulling that she’d recently experienced on social media, which drove her to quit Twitter as she collected her award for Best Performance in a TV Show.

“Since I know there are many young people watching this — and even for the adults, too — they could probably use the reminder that I was taught: if you don’t have anything nice to say, just don’t say it,” she said in the video.

“There should be no space in this world for bullying, and I’m not going to tolerate it, and neither should any of you.”

She added: “If you need a reminder of how worthy you are and to rise above the hate, message me on Instagram.”

The star’s comments come after she deleted her social media accounts earlier this month after she became the subject of a homophobic meme.

The vile meme went viral on Twitter and Instagram, depicting Brown as intolerant of marginalised communities.

Marvel film Black Panther was the big winner at this year’s awards ceremony, picking up Best Movie, with Chadwick Boseman winning Best Hero and Michael B Jordan winning Best Villian.

Love, Simon stars Nick Robinson and Keiynan Lonsdale won the Best Kiss award, meaning the prize went to a same-sex couple for the second year in a row.

Lena Waithe was honoured with the Trailblazer Award and Chris Pratt was given the

Generation Award.
