Millwall's Tim Cahill handed three game ban for violent conduct

Millwall midfielder Tim Cahill has been handed a three-game ban after he admitted to a charge of violent conduct.

The incident, not seen by officials but caught on video, saw Cahill seemingly lead with an elbow in an 85th minute challenge with Ryan Fredericks in the Lions’ 3-0 defeat to Fulham at The Den on Friday.

Cahill will be unavailable for the final two games of Millwall’s push for the Championship play-offs, away to Middlesbrough on Saturday and then a home game against Aston Villa on the final day of the season.

If Millwall don’t reach the playoffs Cahill could have played his final game for the club, who he returned to on a short-term deal in January, 14 years after leaving to join Everton.

The 38-year-old Australian international has made 10 appearances for Neil Harris’ side this season but is yet to make a start, playing a total of just 63 minutes.
