After securing their top six berth in dramatic fashion on the final day of the League One season Millwall’s bid for promotion begins again as they host Scunthorpe at The Den on Thursday.
The Lions seemed to have blown their chances of a playoff place on Sunday as they threw away 2-0 and 3-1 leads at Bristol Rovers when only a win would do as Neil Harris’ men tried to hold off Scunthorpe’s charge for sixth place.
But an 85th minute header from Shaun Hutchinson ensured a return to the playoffs for Millwall, who endured Wembley heartache at the hands of Barnsley last season, with a 4-3 triumph.
This time Millwall are convinced their fortunes will be different, not least because they handed out a 3-1 beating to their Thursday opponents at The Den last month. A repeat of that result and The Lions will be well on their way to Wembley as they bid to end a turbulent season off the field in style.

A sickness bug tore through Millwall’s squad ahead of their final league game of the season but Harris is confident it will have cleared in time for Thursday’s game, for which the Lions have no new injury concerns.
However the likes of Lee Gregory, who scored two in the win at Memorial Stadium before being withdrawn with illness, will have to be carefully managed if they are to prove their fitness in time for The Irons’ visit.
"I have twenty senior players that are itching to play and they know their roles if they're selected," Harris said.
The visiting Scunthorpe side could be without defender Scott Wiseman but looked in impressive form in their final game of the season, a 3-1 win over already-relegated Coventry.
