Shocking footage has emerged of a thug flooring a Spurs fan with a single punch as crowds of football supporters make their way through north London.

Rivalry between Spurs and Millwall fans came to a head on Sunday afternoon as violence flared up after the FA Cup match at White Hart Lane.

The seven-second clip shows the ugly moment two flat-capped men leave the hordes of football fans and make a beeline for two Spurs supporters standing on the edge of the crowd.

The two supporters are celebrating and appear to be chanting an anti-Millwall slogan when the man delivers a violent punch, sending the victim staggering backwards.

The victim falls to the ground as his companion is pulled to the floor alongside him.

Crowds of fans look on in alarm as they walk along High Road in Tottenham heading away from White Hart Lane.

The man who posted the video online, Sacha, said it was a Millwall fan who had punched a Spurs supporter.

Hundreds of people have now watched the alarming footage online and the Met Police confirmed the video has been reported to them.

Earlier in the afternoon police struggled to hold back football fans as they made their way to the football game.

Several fans were seen being wrestled to the ground by officers and a smoke bomb was also thrown as rival groups of fans chanted abuse at each other.

Fears had grown ahead of today's game that tensions between the two football clubs' fans could erupt into violence but a large police presence kept most violence under control.
