Mina Starsisak Hawk Mourns the Unexpected Death of Her Sister-In-Law Stefanie

Good Bones star Mina Starsisak Hawk announced that her sister-in-law, Stefanie Hawk, passed away "unexpectedly" on Thursday.

"There's no easy way to share this. Yesterday, we unexpectedly lost my sister, Stefanie Hawk," the HGTV host revealed Friday in an Instagram post. "She was such a bright light in all of our lives for such a long time."

The family is not hosting a gathering to remember Stefanie at this time because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. A cause of death was not revealed on Instagram.

"There is nothing to say that makes it easier or better, especially in this time where our access to loved ones and friends is so limited," Mina continued. "Given this impossible situation, we are all in with the restrictions we need to respect, we have decided that a gathering will not be possible. As soon as we can make some decisions, we will share information regarding a celebration of Stef's life."

Stefanie was a dog lover, and the family has asked for donations to a group that helps find homes for sheltered animals in lieu of flowers.

"If you knew her at all, you knew her pups were her world, and her passion for animal rescue was just a small part of her amazing spirit," Mina said. "The Asher House held a special place in her heart. In lieu of flowers, we would love donations be made on her behalf."

The tragedy comes in the wake of happier news for Mina, who recently revealed that she was pregnant following a challenging journey to conceive a second child.

“I’ve planned my whole life around this,” she told People magazine in an exclusive interview. “The floor plan of my house has two kids’ rooms and a playroom. We’re supposed to be a big family.
