If you've spent your weekend binging the first season of Mindhunter, David Fincher has already teased the next season.

Netflix renewed the psychological thriller before the first season had even been released, but series creator Joe Penhall – who also adapted the book that the series is based on – has left the show.

Never fear, Fincher is here to outline Mindhunter season two. "Next year we're looking at the Atlanta child murders, so we'll have a lot more African-American music which will be nice," he told Billboard.

"The music will evolve. It's intended to support what's happening with the show and for the show to evolve radically between seasons."

The Atlanta child murders, although some of the victims were adults, took place from 1979-81 and saw at least 28 African-American children, teenagers and adults killed, with Wayne Williams arrested and convicted of two of the adult murders.

However, it seems that they might not have been the focus of the next season as star Holt McCallany has told EW that the "arc of the story" has changed "considerably" since Fincher took over.

"From the point of Joe's departure, David sort of really began to rework the scripts and the bible and everything changed a lot," he explained.

A key part of Mindhunter is the lengthy interrogation scenes and star Jonathan Groff told Digital Spy that the scenes were "exhausting" to film, but ultimately rewarding as they left him with "a sense of pride".

Mindhunter season one is available to watch now on Netflix.
