A SHOPKEEPER has been dealt with for selling alcohol to a minor during a police operation.

On Friday, the Hyndburn Neighbourhood Policing Team, Hyndburn Cadets and Lancashire County Council Trading Standards conducted a Test Purchasing Operation.

Out of the 14 stores tested only one shop failed, selling alcohol to a minor.

The person who served the minor has been given penalty notice.

A spokesman said: “These operations are key to Hyndburn Police driving down Anti-Social behaviour in the community.

“Alcohol in minors causes groups to congregate and cause a nuisance with loud noise and fighting.

“These groups have been causing a nuisance at Tesco, McDonalds and Bus Station on most nights which has prompted a more visible Police presence.”
