'Miracle' Dingo Pup Delivered by Emergency C-Section Meets New Friend

A dingo pup named Lucky, described as a “miracle” after her birth through emergency C-section in May, has been introduced to a new friend at the Australian Reptile Park in New South Wales.

Footage release by the park on June 11 shows Lucky meeting fellow dingo pup Rocky, brought to the zoo to keep Lucky company.

“After her traumatic birth, Lucky has gone from strength to strength under the watchful eye of keepers and her parents Fred and Adina,” the Australian Reptile Park said. “The chubby little fluff-ball is now roaming around the enclosure and is getting more and more confident every day.”

The zoo said keepers were concerned Lucky might be lonely without siblings to play with after the pup, now five weeks old, was the only one to survive when her mother underwent the emergency procedure.

“It’s so heartwarming to see Lucky running around playing with another puppy,” said life sciences manager Hayley Shute. “Lucky is so special to us as Fred and Adina’s only surviving puppy and we couldn’t be happier that we’ve found her a friend to play with.”

The zoo said it hopes to find a home at another facility for both Lucky and six-week-old Rocky when they are both old enough. Credit: Australian Reptile Park via Storyful
