Miracle escape for pair after car plunges off cliff in Clevedon

Two people had a miraculous escape after their car plunged off a cliff in Clevedon. Emergency services were called to Ladye Bay shortly after 3.30pm yesterday (Monday, June 10).

Fire crews from Clevedon, Portishead, Southmead and Temple rushed to the scene. They worked alongside paramedics and coastguard crews to rescue the pair before they were taken to hospital.

Clevedon Firefighters said: ''Just after 3:30pm crews from Clevedon, Portishead Firefighters, Southmead and Temple stations were responded to reports of a car which had accidentally driven over the edge of Ladye Bay.

''Crews working alongside South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust Hazardous Area Response Team & Clevedon Coastguard Rescue Team secured the vehicle before rescuing 2 people from the vehicle who were conveyed to hospital by ambulance as a precaution."
