Miranda Hart To Return To Call The Midwife For Christmas Special

It may only be April, but we’re already getting all excited about the Christmas period thanks to a certain Miranda Hart and her role on Call The Midwife.

If, like us, you’re an avid viewer of the brilliant show, you’ll know that Miranda, who has played Camilla ‘Chummy’ Fortescue-Cholmeley-Browne since 2012, has been away for a little while having taken time off for other work commitments.

On the show, it was explained by Chummy moving to a mother and baby unit.

She was absent for most of series four, and the whole of series five - and we seriously missed her.

This is where our festive excitement comes in, as it’s been confirmed that Chummy will give us one heck of a Christmas present when she returns to the show for this year’s Christmas special, before making a permanent return for series six in 2017.

Confirming her comeback to The Sun, Neal Street Productions said: “We’ve been bursting to share the news Chummy has left the mother and baby unit and is heading back to Poplar for series six!

“We’re thrilled to be once again featuring Miranda Hart and her fabulous blend of warmth, strength and vulnerability as Chummy gets to grips with the medical and social challenges of the 1960s.”

Helen George and Jenny Agutter are already out filming in Cape Town, with a source saying the South African scenes will be ‘very emotional’.

Welcome back, Chummy!
