Miranda star Sarah Hadland, Karla Crome and Brendan Cowell have been announced to appear in the UK premiere of Dance Nation at the Almeida Theatre.

Clare Barron’s new play comes to the theatre from August 27 - October 6, fresh from an award-winning New York run off-Broadway.

Dance Nation, directed by Bijan Sheibani with choreography from Aline David, follows an army of American pre-teen competitive dancers, ready to take over the world. It will be the theatre's next major show following Machinal, which is currently running until July 21.

The Almeida describes the play as “a ferocious exploration of youth, ambition and self-discovery”.

The full cast includes Sarah Hadland (The Way of the World), Brendan Cowell (Yerma), Nancy Crane (Almeida’s Summer and Smoke), Karla Crome (Amadeus), Miranda Foster (Hamlet at the Globe), Ria Zmitrowicz (Gundog), Kayla Meikle (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Irfan Shamji (One for Sorrow) and Manjinder Virk (Bodies).

Barron’s previous work includes the Obie Award winning You Got Older, I’ll Never Love Again and Baby Screams Miracle.
