Missing 82-Year-Old Found Dead in Severe Austria Flooding

A missing 82-year-old man from Treffen am Ossiacher See, Austria, was found dead on June 29 after extensive flooding hit the area overnight, according to the Austrian national broadcaster.

Footage recorded by Gerald Piendl shows flood damage in Treffen on Wednesday. One of the clips shows a car floating off in floodwater. Another shows rocks and mud strewn down a residential street.

National media said the man was found dead around noon on Wednesday. Another person remained missing.

Evacuations were carried out on Wednesday in the towns of Arriach and Laastadt, which were at high risk of landslide. Some houses in Arriach were inaccessible. More than 3,000 homes remained without power at midday on Wednesday. Credit: Gerald Piendl via Storyful
