The identity of a missing man found passed away within the secluded gardens of a prestigious homes development in one of Torquay’s most desirable residential addresses has been confirmed as being 32-year-old Jordan Baker.

Jordan, who was homeless, was reported missing by family on July 2 after he had not been since June 22. The following day, July 3, he was located within the grounds of Spa Villa in Lower Warberry Road, Torquay, by gardeners.

An inquest recently opened into his death at Exeter Coroner's Court. During the short hearing, it was stated that Jordan was born in Torquay and was single, unemployed and of no fixed abode.

Alison Longhorn, area coroner for Exeter and greater Devon, said: "On July 3, gardeners were doing some work in a local secluded garden and were alerted to a strong smell. On further investigation, a body was found in advanced decomposition, although he was able to be later identified.

"The medical cause of his death is unascertained due to decomposition. There are no suspicious circumstances."'

A full inquest into Jordan's death will be held on a yet to be confirmed date. DevonLive previously reported how after his body was discovered, a cordon and a scene guard were put in place while an investigation was carried out.
