Missing Nelson man, 70, found dead by canal near Foulridge
A body has been found in the search for a man missing from his home in Nelson. Police have confirmed that it was that of Norman Buchanan, who was 70.
Mr Buchanan was last seen on Brunswick Street in Nelson at around 8am on Wednesday (September 25). The search has been ongoing over the last two days.
Lancashire Police confirmed tonight (Friday) shortly before 7pm that they had called off the search after the body was confirmed as Mr Buchanan's.

Lancashire Police said: "We’ve some sad news to bring you this evening I’m afraid. Earlier we asked for your help to find Norman Buchanan, 70, who was missing from home in Nelson.
"Sadly, we received a call earlier today to report a body had been seen on the side of the canal near Slipper Hill at Foulridge. Patrols attended and the body has now been confirmed as Norman."
