Missing Pilot Found Dead at Crash Site After 24-Hour Search


The pilot who went missing in a light aircraft was found dead in the plane’s wreckage near Murwillumbah after a 24-hour search on Thursday, May 18.

The wreckage of the plane was found by a person on horseback about 25km west of Murwillumbah, along with a deceased 72-year-old male pilot, The Northern Star reported.

The Queensland Ambulance Service joined the search, sending their Rescue 500 helicopter to scour bushland on Wednesday, May 17, as shown in footage published to their Facebook page. Credit: Rescue 500 Brisbane via Storyful
