Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 have both been delayed
Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 have been delayed as Paramount makes several changes to its release schedule.
The seventh instalment of the Tom Cruise-led franchise was originally set to hit cinemas on July 23 next year, but will now arrive on November 19, 2021.
The production was one of the first in Hollywood to shut down over fears of the coronavirus, with filming in Venice coming to a halt back in February.
Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible 8 has also had its release date moved from August 5, 2022 to November 4, 2022.
Following the announcement that MI7 had shut down production, a studio spokesperson previously said: "Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three-week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for Mission: Impossible 7.
"During this hiatus, we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts.
"We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves."
So far, joining Cruise for the next two missions are Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Endgame star Pom Klementieff, Agent Carter's Hayley Atwell, X-Men's Nicholas Hoult and Fast & Furious star Shea Whigham.
Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8, which are being shot back-to-back, will now be released on November 19, 2021 and November 4, 2022.
