Mitt Romney Will Enter Ring With Holyfield

Mitt Romney has had his share of fights in American politics, but now he is entering a different ring altogether.

The former Massachusetts governor and presidential candidate is going to fight Evander Holyfield, the former heavyweight boxing champion, in an exhibition on 15 May, the Salt Lake City Tribune reported.

"It will either be a very short fight, or I will be knocked unconscious," 68-year-old Mr Romney told the newspaper.

"It won't be much of a fight. We'll both suit up and get in the ring and spar around a little bit."

The event will be held in Salt Lake City, where Mr Romney helped organise the Winter Olympics of 2002.

The exhibition aims to raise funds for the humanitarian group Charity Vision, which sends doctors and equipment to poor nations for eye surgeries.

Mr Romney was the Republican candidate in 2012 but lost to President Barack Obama. He recently announced he would not be seeking a new nomination.

Holyfield, 52, is a four-time heavyweight champion. He was nicknamed The Real Deal in his boxing days.

He famously had part of his ear bitten off by Mike Tyson during a bout in Las Vegas in 1997.
