Mo Farah: Prove I'm A Cheat Or Leave Me Alone

Mo Farah has called on his accusers to prove he is a cheat or leave him alone, in an interview with Sky Sports News.

The double Olympic gold medal-winning track star made his comments in response to claims about his coach Alberto Salazar.

The BBC's Panorama programme alleged that the Portland-based coach had overseen the use of banned substances by Galen Rupp, Farah's training partner and an Olympic silver medalist.

Farah used his interview with Sky Sports News to categorically deny ever using any banned substance.

He also said that if the allegations are proved against Salazar, he will end his relationship with him.

He said: "If it's proven that he's crossed the line, yeah, I'm the first person who's out.

"I work every day hard. I put my body through hell. Let me tell you, every year, seven months of the year, I don't see my family. Year in year out. I miss my kids. Kid's birthdays, anniversaries. I'll never be able to go back and be with my family.

"And to be labelled as someone you are not and labelled as a cheat... If I'm a cheat, prove that I'm a cheat. Or just leave me alone.

"Let me do what I do best. And that's to run, and represent my country and make my country proud. 75,000 people were there in London, shouting out my name and I will never let them down."

He said when he found about the allegations, he was shocked and got on a plane to the US to confront his coach.

"When I saw it, afterwards, I wanted answers and I spoke to Alberto, and he gave me some answers," he said. "You know. I was the first person to say 'Look. What's going on'.

"I tried to race. My head wasn't there. There was just so much. So I changed my flight. And I went home. And I went to see him. And to confront him and to say 'What's going on Alberto? You need to reassure me'.

"And he said to me 'Mo, I'm working on this. I will come out and prove these are just allegations'. And I was like 'ok'.

"That's why it's taken me so long. Because I wanted him to come out. Because these are allegations about him, not me. About him.

"So I wanted him to come out (about) all those allegations and to come out and tell the people."

"For people to think I'm taking shortcuts, it's not right and it's not fair. And, this picture has been painted of me. It's not right. I'm 100% clean.

"I work my b****** off. I work my a*** off. And I love what I do. And I want to continue winning medals but I want to let people know that I'm 100% clean.

"I'm not on any drugs. I'm not on thyroids. I'm not on any medication. The only medication that I am on (is for) asthma, and I've had that since I was a child, and that's just a normal use. It's just the normal stuff. And that's it."
