MOBO Awards 2025 hosts confirmed for Newcastle as Strictly and Love Island stars get job
The countdown is well and truly on to this year's MOBO Awards, with its hosts now confirmed, as the annual events gets ready to take over Newcastle for the first time.
The announcement that the MOBOS were coming to the Toon caused a lot of excitement in the autumn, with it revealed that the Utilita Arena would be the new home for the always star-studded ceremony, on Tuesday, February 18, days after the MOBO Fringe takes over several venues in and around Newcastle.
Last year's big winners included Raye, Central Cee and Sugababes and this year's MOBO nominations include 2024 winner Central Cee, international music icons like Beyoncé, Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar and home grown talent including Jorja Smith and Sampha and, at the start of this week, Krept & Konan, Spice and Bashy were unveiled as the first performers for this year's event.

And, on Wednesday morning, organisers were delighted to announced that the job of hosting the MOBOs 2025 has been handed to former Love Island finalist Indiyah Polack and Eddie Kadi. Indiyah impressed having made her debut as MOBOs host in 2024, while comedian Eddie is known to millions of BBC viewers for being a contestant on Strictly.
Delighted to be back for a second time, Indiyah commented: "I’m so excited to be back co-hosting the MOBO Awards for the second year. We’re going to bring a show like no other before to Newcastle, celebrating the richness of Black music and culture. You can expect some incredible red carpet looks, amazing live performances and of course, great vibes from Eddie and I.”
Equally excited at being handed the big role, Eddie enthused: "The MOBO Awards is a big part of British music culture and it’s an honour to be asked to co-host this year’s ceremony with Indiyah. There are so many incredible artists nominated and the show is going to reflect the incredible range of the MOBO Awards – from hip hop to dancehall and more surprises to come! Watch this space. We can’t wait to bring the party to Newcastle where we know the energy is going to be electric!”
The 2025 MOBO Awards will be live-streamed to a global audience on YouTube at 8pm GMT on February 18, with an exclusive BBC One broadcast special airing on 21 February.
