Moddershall Oaks 'overwhelmed' a week on from devastating flash floods
Spa retreat Moddershall Oaks has thanked customers for their understanding after two flash floods within hours left the venue under water. Shocking footage showed guests being forced to evacuate as water and mud came gushing into the building near Stone last Saturday (September 21).
Since then, a huge clear up operation has been underway and work is ongoing to assess the extent of the damage. No date has yet been confirmed for the storm-hit venue's reopening but all those with bookings have been contacted. The worst affected areas are the Oak House and kitchen.
In an update, a Moddershall Oaks spokesman said: "We are truly overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support, and positive messages we’ve received since Saturday's flash floods and mudslides.

"The flooding struck suddenly on Saturday afternoon and within minutes, we were submerged. For everyone’s safety, we evacuated the premises and immediately began contacting guests and clearing water and mud from the buildings. Unfortunately, at 9.30pm, a second flash flood hit, causing additional damage.
"The majority of the mud and water is now out of the buildings and we are focusing on assessing the damage. The worst affected areas are the Oak House and kitchen but we also have issues with tech, car parks and drainage. We are working non-stop to make as much progress as possible.
"Our priority right now is communicating with all guests whose bookings have been affected by the floods. If you have emailed or called and left a message, please bear with us – we will get back to you as soon as we can.
"Since the floods, over 100 people including our team, family, friends, locals and contractors have stepped in to help, and we cannot thank them enough for their efforts. The offers of support from members of our community, guests and local businesses have been overwhelming and we are deeply grateful - please accept our heartfelt thanks
"Thank you for your understanding and support. Things are moving very quickly and we will be open as soon as possible. We will provide a further update shortly."
