Modern Family's younger cast members have received a big pay rise for the next two seasons.

Deadline reports that Sarah Hyland (Haley), Ariel Winter (Alex), Nolan Gould (Luke) and Rico Rodriguez (Manny) will pocket more than $100,000 an episode for season nine and ten.

This follows fellow cast members Ed O'Neill, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet and Sofia Vergara closing new two-year deals on the hit ABC comedy, lifting their salaries over 40% from around $350,000 an episode to around $500,000 an episode.

A quick summing-up means that these new contracts will result in each episode costing at least $3.4 million to make, not including the salaries of other cast members like Aubrey Anderson-Emmons (Lily) and Jeremy Maguire (Joe).

Modern Family's ninth season is expected to start shooting in early August after two more seasons of the comedy were confirmed in May.

"We have been blessed since day one on Modern Family, and having the opportunity to spend two more years with these characters - and the brilliant actors behind them - is is the latest, and best, in a series of gaudy gifts," series co-creator Christopher Lloyd announced.

"There is so much more to explore in the lives of this family, and so many pressing needs in the lives of our own actual families to go on ignoring, that this timing could not have worked out any better. Truly, it's a humbling experience."

Modern Family airs on ABC in the US and Sky1 in the UK.
