Modern Family star Sarah Hyland has left her husband Wells Adams stunned after pipping him to an anniversary tribute.

The pair got married last year in a ceremony that was attended by some of Hyland's TV co-stars, the couple having been together since 2017.

Hyland has now posted a loving tribute on Instagram with a picture from their big day in 2022, writing: "One year married to you flew by in a blink of an eye. You’re my HUSBAND. My best friend. My true north.

"I love you more than words can say and every day is the best day when I’m with you. Marriage is most fun I’ve ever had because I get to be married to you."

However, Wells quipped in the comments that she managed to beat him in posting the tribute, noting that she is in Fiji filming Love Island USA.

"How did you beat me to this?!? It’s 4am in Fiji!!!!! But I love you more. So there’s that," he wrote, Sarah replying with a series of purple devil emojis.

Sharing his own post later, Wells wrote on his Instagram page: "Happy first anniversary to my perfect wife. I love you more. Plus one. Anything you say."

Meanwhile, Sarah recently responded after being accused of being "disrespectful" during an episode of Love Island USA, which she hosts.

The awkward moment came after Sarah asked contestant Vickala Gray if she was happy with her decision to leave the island with her eliminated partner Keenan Anunay.

However, friend Mike Stark then asked Sarah: "Why are you saying it like that?", accusing her of being "mad disrespectful".

"I'm being disrespectful?" Sarah asked, before turning to the other Islanders and saying: "Okay then." Another contestant then apologised to Sarah on behalf of Mike, saying it was said in the "heat of the moment".

Sarah then said: "Boys will be boys, right?".
