New Mohamed Salah Liverpool transfer claims made as midfielder linked with move
Liverpool are the new leaders of the Premier League after a 2-1 victory over rock-bottom Wolves on Saturday. Arne Slot's side were able to take advantage of Manchester City's slip-up at Newcastle United and now stand a point clear of them at the top of the table.
Mohamed Salah added to Ibrahima Konate's first half opener after Rayan Ait-Nouri's equaliser. Despite moving to the top of the table, Slot does not want his players to become carried away by their strong start to the season.
"Everybody is realistic enough," he said. "All the players have so much experience that they understand six games into the season doesn’t give you a realistic view of the league table. That is more like 19 games when you can really feel 'okay, where are we?'

Slot added: "Everybody understands if we’d have lost four or five of these opening fixtures then life would be a bit different that it is now. I don’t think it’s necessary for me to convince the players the challenges we still face."
Here, the ECHO has taken a look at the latest headlines around Liverpool in the last 24 hours.
Potential Mo Salah successors emerge
Caught Offside report Liverpool are looking at wide-forwards amid concern over Salah's future. The Egypt international will come to the end of his contract next summer unless he agrees a new deal in the next few months.
Liverpool meanwhile, have started to prepare themselves for life post Salah and are reportedly looking at Bayern Munich's Leroy Sane and Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams as potential options. The club have held a strong interest in Newcastle's Anthony Gordon but his club are looking to tie him down to a new contract.
Newcastle were close to selling Gordon to Liverpool at the end of June in a deal worth £75m as they looked to ensure their compliance with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules. However, a deal never materialised with the St James' Park outfit after the Magpies raised enough funds before the June 30 deadline.
Fresh midfielder name emerges
German news outlet Bild claim Liverpool have Freiburg midfielder Merlin Rohl on their transfer list. It's said the club have sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old in action in recent months.
However, Freiburg are said to be aware of the interest and are looking to offer him a new contract as they are described as feeling 'fearful' that he could leave in the January transfer window.
Rohl, who joined the German side from FC Ingolstadt 04 in 2022, is currently sidelined with a ligament tear injury.
