New Liverpool signing Mohamed Salah says he has a point to prove after a frustrating spell in the Premier League with Chelsea.

The Egyptian became the Reds second most-expensive signing on Thursday, arriving from Roma for a reported fee of £34 million, £1m shy of Andy Carroll's price tag six and a half years ago.

Salah made just 13 league appearances during 12 months at Chelsea before being sent on loan to Fiorentina, with Roma eventually signing him permanently for around £13m last summer.

The 25-year-old says he moves back to England, for almost three times that fee, a more mature player following a season which saw him register 15 goals and 11 assists in 31 Serie A games.

When asked if he has a point to prove after struggling at Chelsea, Salah replied: "Yes, always.

"Even if I see myself playing very well in one thing, I try to improve to do it better and better. I always think about the small details because I need to improve more and more."

"I was here and I have experience [of English football]. I like to play here in the Premier League. I’m happy to be back and I’m excited.

"[I am] 100 per cent [a better player]! Everything [has improved]. Even my personality was different, I was a kid – I was 20 or 21. Now I’m four years older, everything is different.

"I have lots of experience in three clubs: I was at Chelsea, then Fiorentina and then Roma. I have good experience."
